Hakan Yaşar

Hello, I’m Hakan Yaşar, originally from Izmir, Turkey, but now residing in Amsterdam, Netherlands for my studies. I’m about to start my third and final year pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam.
During my first year in Amsterdam, I was staying at a dorm provided by the university. However, for the next two years, I had to find a place on my own and in March, I started searching online. Fast forward five months, and after way too many online searches, emails and phone calls to landlords and real estate agents, I still did not have a place to stay with less than a month left. This is where I came across The Ned|Lon after my mom sent me the link of this very Instagram account. After I filled in the housing form, I got an introductory email in a couple of hours, a phone call the next day, and was ready to sign the contract for my new home in a few weeks. Therefore, I know how stressful the housing market can be as an international student, but I also know and appreciate how The Ned|Lon can ease that process and now I’m happy to help on the other side of the operations.
Personally, I’m always interested in learning new things, and this position has brought many new experiences and lessons. As someone who grew up in a digitalized world, interpersonal communication has almost always been a trait that I was lacking in, but in the short time that I’ve been an Operations Associate with The Ned|Lon, I’ve learned how to fill the gap between our clients and the housing market. As a former client, I anticipate what the prospective tenant needs, and as a keen observer, I learn from how my team members and those that I come into contact with operate.
